Frequently asked questions
-
The date that a contract was published on StandardContracts.io is set out in the contract title in the footer of that contract, in YY-MM-DD format.
E.g., if a contract has “26-01-31” in the footer, that means that that contract was published on StandardContracts.io on 31 January 2026.
If a newer version of the same contract is subsequently created and published, the date will be updated, as well as the version number.
-
No. StandardContracts.io will not remove older versions of hyperlinked General Terms from the site. Newer versions will be included in updated Cover Sheets, but older versions will remain in the back end
Users should, though, download copies of all General Terms used as a matter of good practice
-
The last three digits in the contract title in the footer of a StandardContracts.io contract show the version of that contract
1.0.0 is the base/original version
Cosmetic changes are demonstrated via an update to the last digit (e.g., 1.0.0 to 1.0.1)
Minor changes are demonstrated via a change to the middle digit (e.g., 1.0.0 to 1.1.0)
Major changes are demonstrated via a change to the first digit (e.g., 1.0.0 to 2.0.0)
The date of publication in the contract title in the footer (YY-MM-DD format) will also be updated
A new 4-character alphanumeric label (e.g., “ry3f“ or “7s2m”) will be created by our website hosting provider and included in the hyperlink
-

The variables version is included in the contract title in the footer of each Cover Sheet
MV = minimum variables = most defaults / least items for input
RV = reduced variables = less defaults / more items for input
FV = fullvariables = least defaults / most items for input
Ordinarily, there are at least 2 versions of each contract: 1. a minimum variables (MV) version, and 2. a full variables (FV) version
